Torres Strong. Take one look at Manny Torres, and you have to agree.
But looks can be deceiving.
He’s a lot stronger than that.
Manny has always seen it as his duty to serve and protect. After graduating from basic training in 2004, he was quickly deployed to Afghanistan from 2005 to 2007. Today he serves as a police officer, and is proud father of two beautiful girls.
A few years ago, he decided to lose a little weight. He stocked up on Personal Trainer Food and started slinging iron at the local gym. Everything was going great, he dropped 33 pounds and built an enviable physique.
And then his world stopped. Manny was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Ever determined, Manny dug in. Nothing was going to diminish his ability to enjoy every day of his life, not even cancer.
“Chemo @ 8 am with 2 more Chemo sessions to go. I still managed to push through and got my back workout done.”
The continued chemotherapy treatments took their toll and he gained some of the weight back. But Manny wasn’t about to let cancer derail his life. Again, he used Personal Trainer Food* to jump start his fat loss.
And he signed up to compete in the Texas Shredder bodybuilding show.
He stuck to his program, even when he had to travel…
“It’s a travel week, but prepping, dieting, and exercise doesn’t stop. It’s just a change of scenery and cardio. No excuses, and never ask why, always look forward!”
He kept going, even as he did his chemo treatments…
“I’m not wasting any time, for we don’t know how much time we have on this earth. I believe you get what you put into this world, and if you want something bad enough you have to go get it. Never look back and never regret the choices that you made. Love life and embrace your story.”
And he prevailed!
“I have to admit, it has been a struggle to say the least, fighting fatigue, insomnia, not to mention stress during my training. I learned a lot about self-will and determination. I would like to thank Mike Starks, founder and CEO of Personal Trainer Food.”
Manny has something he wants to say to you…
“People always ask me “why?”
My answer: what if someone told you that you had cancer and you have one week to live?
What would you do?”
Today, Manny is in remission. He’s counting down the months of chemo treatments he has left before he can be totally cancer-free. And he is training for yet another bodybuilding show.
But he’s not stopping at that. Inspired by how his trainer pushed and encouraged him, Manny is now studying to become a NASM and ISSA certified trainer. Soon, he will serve to motivate and guide others to lead healthy, strong lives.
