How to Avoid Weight Loss Confusion

It’s January 2014, diets and diet products are all over television and internet. There are so many new pills, and products being advertised it makes your head spin.

Many have terms like ‘Fast Start’ or advertise the secret weapon in the form of a ‘proprietary’ shake, but only if you “ORDER IN THE NEXT 5 MINUTES!!!”

A woman is confused by the noise of commercials. Should she eat the apple or take the diet pills?

One such commercial goes on and on with how it helps you to lose weight, but doesn’t tell you what they were selling — until the very end. The earth-shattering reveal of the miraculous product is an ordinary, everyday  treadmill.

Of course, there is no mention of watching what you eat at all. Yes indeed, January is truly the season of ‘weight loss miracles.’

Watching January television can be a dizzying late night swirl of flashing BUY NOW banners and machine gun voices. It gets easy to lose focus on what is really at the bottom of long term, sustainable weight loss success. The noise from the commercials can drown out the reality and suck you down the rabbit hole.

The bottom line is: if you don’t have good healthy eating habits EVERYDAY then no pill, gadget or powder will help you to lose or keep weight off.

Sorry folks, there is no magic bullet for 4 easy payments.

If it sounds too good to be true it probably is. If you buy into these gimmicks, the thing you will lose is your money. Americans spend over 60 billion a year on weight loss according to the World Health Organization.

As humans we have to eat to fuel our bodies. We have to make decisions about the food we eat everyday about 3-5 times a day. That is 3-5 opportunities for good choices every single day. You don’t need a fancy complicated gadget, special miracle pills or powders to make those wise decisions.
