Memorial Day is a day to honor our heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
As a reminder of what their service means to us, we dare you to watch this video... and TRY not to cry happy tears!
(Yeah, we cried too!)
Most people spend the holiday weekend with friends and family, hitting the beach, the lake, or the pool.
And gathering ’round the BBQ is where it’s at, right?
Here are four simple rules to celebrate without going off the rails…
Pass on the Alcohol
First of all, as always, we recommend avoiding alcohol.
We know it’s hard to do for a lot of folks, but if you’re serious enough about losing those stubborn pounds, you can do it!
And we’ve made it easy for you with these 7 crazy-good mocktails!
If you are already at your goal, use this handy guide if you would like to have a drink.
Just because you’re skipping the bun, doesn’t mean you’re going to be stuck with a bland burger.
Add things like salsa, guacamole, cracked black pepper, mustard, cheese, jalapenos, and BACON (oh yeah!) to your burger.
Does going bunless not feel right? Try this bunless burger hack– it won’t make your own buns bigger!
(And remember, if you use barbeque sauce, be sure it’s sugar free. Most BBQ sauces are loaded with sugar, so read the label!)
Skip the Chips
Chips are yummy. They’re crunchy and salty and full of flavor. They’re also a big-time contributor to spare tires, love handles, and thunder thighs.
So keep the junk out of your trunk by keeping the chips in the bag.
Instead, grab a plate of fresh veggies to plunge into your favorite dip. Celery, carrots, and broccoli, are awesome alternatives to those bags of salty saboteurs.
Dessert – Just say “NO!”
Homemade apple pie is hard to resist. But you gotta do it if you are serious about your goals.
Give this alternative a try: take an apple, slice it up, sprinkle some cinnamon on the slices, put them on a baking sheet and stick them in the oven for just a few minutes on 350 or so.
And finally, remember this: when in doubt just DON’T EAT IT!
